Frequently Asked Questions

  • Our typical client begins working with us between 55-70 years old and want help managing their investments (usually between $500K - $5M) and building a tax-efficient retirement income plan.

    Since our company’s inception, we’ve worked with individuals and families on the cusp of retirement. Our team’s extensive knowledge in investment management, retirement planning, long-term care insurance, tax planning, Social Security and Medicare has positioned our team as retirement experts.

    Most of our current clients had hit a point in their life where the complexity of their financial situation exceeded their comfort level to continue doing it themselves.

  • It all starts with your tax return.

    We want to see and review your tax return every year. We want to make sure we know and understand where all of your income sources are coming from, what kind of deductions you’re taking, and where you are in your current tax bracket.

    From there we can help our clients see the benefits of Roth Conversions, Qualified Charitable Distributions from Traditional IRAs, how to prioritize which account to pull income from and when, manage investment account capital gains from non-IRA investment accounts, recommend a what kind of investment accounts to save into…and even interacting with your accountant about a big financial decision you are contemplating.

    While accountants are experts and generally great at what they do, it helps to have a second set of eyes on your returns each year - there are errors (sometimes large!) we’ve caught that help our clients not pay a dime more tax than they have to.

  • We believe our clients have the greatest chance at financial success when asset management is paired with ongoing financial planning.

    Because of that, we utilize an Assets Under Management fee structure. This means our fee is based on the amount of investments we manage for you. This “all-in-one” AUM fee (listed below) includes both investment management and ongoing financial planning from our team.

    Between $500K - $3M our fee starts at 1%

    Above $3M our fee starts at 0.8% and includes your tax preparation fees.

  • Our fee covers both investment management services and ongoing financial planning.

    Investment Management includes:
    * Professionally managed portfolios
    * Full-service account management
    * Quarterly Performance Report
    * Discretionary Asset Management
    * Portfolio Rebalancing
    * Annual Investment Review Meetings

    Ongoing Financial Planning includes:

  • Our physical office is located in West Knoxville, Tennessee. While many of our clients are nearby and enjoy meeting face-to-face, technology has increased to such a level that your geographical distance isn’t a factor.

    We utilize email, phone, virtual meetings and secure document portals to make location a non-issue. We even have a virtual financial planning studio with something we call a lightboard to make our virtual meetings feel like you’re in the office with us!
